Hey, we're busy people

HCMA hosted renowned spoken word artist and poet laureate of Canada Shane Koyczan as part of their ongoing artist in residence program. His piece "Places" was performed for a small intimate gathering at their office. As an architecture and design firm that's dedicated to understanding and connecting with the communities in which they work; this poem hits close to their hearts.

Our Involvement

I was brought in to record the recital for safekeeping but didn't feel that a simple recording of affluent people sitting in a downtown Vancouver office space would justify the intent of Shane's words. So I took extra time and collected footage that envelopes Shane's poetry with a visual tapestry that immerses the viewer. What would be a simple office recording has gone on to become a viral video that HCMA continues to use as part of their ongoing conversations about the impact their work can have on people from all walks of life.

Completely blown away.

We wanted to capture a poetry reading at our office featuring Shane Koyczan. Inder filmed it like we asked, and then went above and beyond by adding visuals and music that we would never have thought of doing. He went way above-spec and delivered an incredibly powerful video. It gained over 100,000 views in the first week!
